GLAD Program at Bounce

Are you sick and tired of suffering day to day with the aches and pains of arthritic joints?

Do you want to take charge of your health and bounce back into the best years of your life?

If this sounds like you then the GLAD program may be the perfect solution for you!

What is GLAD (GLA:D)?

Other than being Glad to see us, GLAD stands for Good Life with Arthritis: Denmark. This program is a researched and evidence-based program for management and treatment of Osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip and/or knee.

OA is an extremely common condition that causes pain and disability in almost 1 in 10 Australians. In Australia it is often managed with surgery and medication, however the GLAD program offers a better way.

GLAD is a program of exercise and education, which has been shown to reduce the progression of OA symptoms by 32%, as well as reducing pain, reliance on painkillers, and less time off work.

Along with education and exercise classes, the GLAD program is designed to be applied to your daily life, correcting your movements patterns and functional strength, further reducing symptoms and disability.

But what IS the GLAD Program?

The GLAD program runs for 8 weeks, and is lead by a GLAD qualified physiotherapist. The aim is to build stability of the joints, functional strength, improve movement patterns, and improve symptoms.

The program involves:

  1. An Initial Appointment - during which the physiotherapist will gather information and develop a baseline to work from, as well as explain in detail the contents of the program and expectations.
  2. Two Education Sessions - where the physiotherapist will teach you all about Osteoarthritis, how the GLAD program will benefit you, and what to do following the 8-week program.
  3. Two Group Classes per week for 6 weeks - where you will build strength and improve control and loading of the joints.
  4. Final Assessment - the physiotherapist will compare your final results to your baseline assessment to see how well you have progressed through the program.

Who can join the GLAD Program?

GLA:D® Australia is a program for anyone suffering from hip and/or knee pain associated with Osteoarthritis.

You may not be eligible to participate in the GLA:D® Australia program if you have -
