Shane Fagan

Shane, a native of Ireland, graduated from Dublin City University, with a first class honours degree in Athletic Therapy and Training. He then completed a masters degree in physiotherapy from University College Dublin.

Shane is an ex professional soccer player in the UK and Ireland (clubs including Coventry City, Shamrock Rovers, Longford Town and Cabinteely) as well as an Ireland International from under 15 to under 19 level.

His special interests include exercise based rehabilitation and injury prevention. He has completed research in hamstring injury prevention in Gaelic Footballers which was presented internationally at the SportsKongres conference in Denmark in 2020.

He has also completed research also in injury prevention in rugby union, focused in the area of concussion, balance and wearable sensors.

Shane is also qualified in dry needling and trigger point therapy release.

Shane has a specialist interest in the rehabilitation of athletic hip and groin pain, hamstring injuries and long-term knee ligament injuries such as ACL injuries. He has worked in private practice in Ireland over the last number of years, as well as working with a number of sports teams including at inter county level as the lead physiotherapist for the Kildare Senior Hurling Team.

He has also worked as physiotherapist with a number of local sports teams in Ireland, including rugby, Gaelic football, hurling, golf and soccer.
